Congratulations 2010 Berkshire League Band

Congratulations on being selected to the 2010 Berkshire League Band. Please bookmark this blog as it will be used for recordings and information throughout the 2010 Berkshire League Music Festival.

The conductor for this year is Mr. Jacob W. Wilson, III

Mr. Wilson has been a music educator for over 15 years at Lyme-Old Lyme High School and has taught all levels of instrumental music, music theory and history. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Mansfield University, a Master’s Degree in Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and a 6th Year Degree in Conducting from the Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, Connecticut. He has studied conducting with Glen Adsit, and attended summer conducting clinics with H. Robert Reynolds, Jerry Junkin, Richard Clary and Michael Haithcock.

In addition to being the Director of the Waterford Community Band, Mr. Wilson has served as a conductor for CMEA Southern Region Middle School Music Festival, The NCCC Music Festival, The Charter Oak Music Festival and the Quinebaug Valley Music Festival. Prior to entering a career in education, Mr. Wilson was the principal horn for Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera National Tour III for over 5 years. He has also performed other Broadway shows including Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, Into The Woods and Big, as well as performing with the national tour of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. He has performed with the New York City Ballet, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Williamsport Symphony, Greenwich Symphony, Waterbury Symphony, New Britain Symphony, Bridgeport Symphony, Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Foxwoods Casinos Orchestra, Mohegan Sun Casinos Orchestra, and the Salt Marsh Opera just to name a few. Mr. Wilson has also toured with several chamber groups including the Rondo Chamber Orchestra and the Vivace Brass Quintet. He has recorded several commercial jingles and has also been guest soloist with the New England Youth Ensemble, Mansfield University Concert Wind Ensemble and the Kings College Orchestra.
